Workforce Academy Shoutout…
25th April 2023
Sophie is leading member of the Hull Sport Workforce Academy and has really excelled over the last 12 months through our squash programmes. Sophie has worked on the likes of our in school squash programme Rackets Cubed, delivered female only student sessions and transitioned into the lead of our after school junior squash programme. Over the last 12 months Sophie’s confidence and ability to play and deliver squash based activity has grown exponentially. Having only starting to play whilst a student at the University Sophie has really showcased the perfect model of moving from beginner squash playing activity to coaching and delivering squash activity for a range of different demographics. Through all her hard work Sophie has been recognised by 3 separate organisations; England Squash, Yorkshire University Sports Awards, Street Games.
Sophie has been shortlisted on a national level with governing body England Squash for ‘Volunteer of the year’ for her dedicated hard work to our squash programmes. You can read more about her nomination here
Sophie has been recognised on a county wide level within the University sector for her voluntary work with squash – ‘Great Volunteer’. You can read more about her recognition by visiting the @bucsyorkshire Instagram account.
Street Games are national charity that help provide sporting opportunities for young people from all types of backgrounds. Through the together fund and our junior squash programme Sophie has been recognised on a national level once again. You can read more on her case study here
Hull Sport would like to say a massive well done to Sophie for all her hard work! If you are inspired by Sophie’s journey and would like to get involved in volunteering with Hull Sport please email email@example.com to see how we can support you for the start of your career.
