Keep it moving is an exercise programme that has been specifically designed for amputees and is based on pioneering research led by the University of Hull to improve mobility and reduce falls for people who have had a lower limb amputation. The programme started in 2020 with just one session a week on a Wednesday for local participants. Over the last 2 years the programme has grown to two practical sessions at Hull Sport and two online sessions reaching people all across the UK, with some participants logging in from Portsmouth and some participants travel from Huddersfield and Lincoln to attend the programme.
Keep it moving is for anyone who has suffered a lower limb amputation to help continue with rehab support, build confidence and improve physical and mental wellbeing. The University has recently secured funding from Active Humber and Sport England to help cover costs of facility hire and instructor costs but the added benefits are is that University of Hull students use the project as a placement opportunity. We are also aiming to become a train the trainer facility!
