University of Hull become Tigers’ new training partner

Hull Tigers' and Hull University

The Tigers and the University of Hull have joined together for a deal which will see the University become the Club’s Official Training Partner.

The deal will see the University of Hull’s branding appear on the Tigers’ first team training and bench wear during the 2016/17 season along with the naming rights to the training ground in Cottingham, while the University will also benefit from its branding appearing during in-game LED advertising and on media backdrop boards at the KCOM Stadium.

Simon King, Commercial Manager for Hull City Tigers, is delighted to welcome the University of Hull on board.

“We’re delighted to have the University of Hull as our first ever training partner. This partnership will see the University taking the naming rights to our fantastic training ground and see their logo proudly positioned on all the first team’s training wear. With the power of the Premier League we hope to give the University the opportunity to drive awareness in the UK and overseas and help attract even more students to our fantastic University and wonderful city.

This isn’t the first time the Club and the University have joined together, with the University providing shirt sponsorship during the late 1990s, and now this new and exciting partnership has been agreed ahead of the new Premier League season.

Anja Hazebroek, Director of Marketing and Communications at the University of Hull, said:

“It is fantastic to see our local football club return to the Premier League. There are clear opportunities in working together to promote Hull, the Club and the University in a more coordinated way. This partnership will help us to build awareness across the globe of our great city and its compelling offer as a place to live, study, work, invest and visit. It offers us an unparalleled opportunity – particularly as we also gear up to celebrate Hull’s position as UK City of Culture in 2017 – to promote the University and city on a global stage, engaging millions of potential students and partners.

Matt Bramall, Vice-President for Sport at Hull University Union, said:

“Sport plays a significant part in the student experience at the University of Hull. We look forward to working with the football club in this partnership, which will allow us to build long-lasting links between the Tigers and ourselves, to further the sporting aspirations of our students. The University is investing £15million in sports facilities and, with partnerships like this, the investment strengthens our already strong sporting tradition and ambition for the future.
