Squash Courts Refurbishments Brought Forward

We are delighted to be able to share with you some great news regarding the refurbishment of the University’s Squash Courts.

The Contractor (Henry Boot) who has been appointed to build our new Sports facility has proposed to refurbish ALL of the squash courts over the Summer of 2017!

Please see below some important information:-

Proposal: (It is intended to always have 3 courts in action)

  • Convert 6th squash court Summer 2017
  • Refurbish courts 2 & 4 including new floors Summer 2017
  • POTENTIALLY- refurbish courts 1, 3 & 5 in Summer 2017- When and how these 3 courts are done will be agreed ASAP. (January 2018 is one option)

When will this start, how long with it take?

  • Proposal is to start putting up hoardings Mon 17 July 2017, we will lose courts 2 & 4 from 17 July
  • Finished- Still TBC by subcontractor but it is suggested until Mid-Sept (just before students return to Campus)

There will undoubtedly be some disruption to court users throughout the period of the refurbishment but the benefits that the total refurbishment will bring to our customers will certainly outweigh any temporary inconvenience – with the addition of a sixth court and a full suite of fully refurbished courts with new floors, walls and lighting.

Please look out for signage around the Sports Centre and by the Courts.  This will give you details as to how the work will be managed.

If you have any questions regarding the refurbishment programme, you can speak with any member of the team in the Sports Centre or, you can contact Steve Curtis, Partnership & Project Manager (Sport) on 466494 or by email S.Curtis@hull.ac.uk.
